Understanding the Minimum Income Floor (MIF)

In this module we will explain how the Minimum Income Floor can help you in your initial set up period.

If you are self-employed and claiming Universal Credit or ESA, the Minimum Income Floor—or MIF—can affect your payments. It assumes you earn a set amount, even if you don’t. You will get a 12-month grace period first, and it only applies if you are confirmed as gainfully self-employed. Unsure how it affects you? Speak to your work/employment coach.
